Purpose of this Feature
This enhancement adds support for backend inspection stations in Action Manager's quality modules, allowing users to configure yield alerts for backend machines.
Problems it solves:
- Previously, SPY and FPY modules only supported frontend inspection stations (AOI, SPI, Pre-AOI, AXI)
- Users could not configure yield alerts for backend inspection machines like ICT
Who benefits:
- Quality engineers monitoring backend inspection processes
- Operations teams needing alerts for yield issues at backend stations
Anyone managing end-to-end quality across frontend and backend inspection
Key Functionalities and Workflows
New Module:
A new Quality - Yield Backend module has been added to Action Manager with the following machine types:
| Machine Type | Description |
|---|---|
| ICT (In-Circuit Tester) | In-circuit test equipment |
| Generic Manual Inspection | Manual inspection stations |
| Generic Automated Inspection | Automated inspection equipment |
Updated Existing Modules:
The following machine types are now available in the Quality - SPY and Quality - FPY modules: AOI, Pre-AOI, AXI, SPI, ICT
Step-by-Step Usage Instructions
Create a Backend Yield Alert
- Navigate to Action Manager → Trigger Management
- Select Quality - Yield Backend
- Click Create Profile
- Configure the profile:
- Set the Scope (Site, Area, or Line)
- Enter a Description
- In the Configuration section:
- Set the Yield Threshold (percentage)
- Set the Minimum Board Count
Select a Machine Type (ICT, Generic Manual Inspection, or Generic Automated Inspection)
- Configure Time Frame Parameters (Check Every, Window)
- Click Save
- Configure routing as needed in the Routing tab
Create an SPY or FPY Alert for ICT
- Navigate to Action Manager → Trigger Management
- Select Quality - SPY or Quality - FPY
- Click Create Profile
In the Configuration section, select ICT from the Machine Type dropdown
- Configure threshold and other settings as usual
- Click Save
Configuration or Setup Requirements
Prerequisites:
- The relevant React metrics must be enabled for your scope:
- For SPY:
spy-per-machinemetrics - For FPY:
fpy-per-machinemetrics
- For SPY:
- Backend inspection machines must be configured in your Factory Map
Module Selection:
Use Quality - Yield Backend for backend-specific yield monitoring with additional options (Minimum Board Count, Window)
- Use Quality - SPY or Quality - FPY with ICT machine type for standard SPY/FPY alerts on ICT machines
Expected Outputs or Reports
Alerts trigger when:
- Quality - Yield Backend: Yield for the latest product inspected per machine is at or below the threshold, and inspection count meets the minimum board count
- Quality - SPY / FPY with ICT: Second Pass Yield or First Pass Yield for ICT machines falls below the configured threshold
Alert behavior:
- Alerts are routed according to the profile's Routing configuration
- Actions appear in Action Manager for assignment and resolution

FAQ
Q: What's the difference between Quality - Yield Backend and Quality - SPY? A: Quality - Yield Backend is designed specifically for backend inspection with additional configuration options like Minimum Board Count and a configurable time Window. Quality - SPY is focused on Second Pass Yield for inspection machines.
Q: Can I use ICT in both SPY and Yield Backend modules? A: Yes. ICT is available in Quality - SPY, Quality - FPY, and Quality - Yield Backend. Choose the module based on the metric and configuration options you need.
Q: What machine types are considered "frontend" vs "backend"? A: Frontend typically includes AOI, Pre-AOI, AXI, and SPI. Backend includes ICT, Generic Manual Inspection, and Generic Automated Inspection.
