Purpose of this Feature
This enhancement allows users to split a single downtime into multiple parts from one operation, making it easier to accurately categorize long downtimes that had multiple causes.
Problems it solves:
- Previously, splitting was limited to 2 parts only
- No quick way to find newly created downtimes after splitting — users had to manually search for each one
- Long downtimes with multiple causes required multiple split operations
Who benefits:
- Production operators labeling downtimes with multiple root causes
- Supervisors reviewing and categorizing extended downtime events
- Anyone managing downtime data accuracy
Key Functionalities and Workflows
Capabilities:
- Split a single downtime into up to 5 parts (4 splits + original)
- Add or remove splits from a single modal
- Input duration for each split in hours and minutes
- Real-time calculation of remaining time
- Quick Filter button to immediately view all newly created downtimes
Validation:
- Sum of all splits must be less than total downtime duration
- Each split must have a duration greater than 0
- Submit button is disabled until all validations pass

Configuration or Setup Requirements

- Each new downtime has its own unique ID
- New downtimes appear in the Events tab
- Downtimes retain their association with the original line/machine and time period
Quick Filter results:
- Events tab is filtered to show all newly created downtime IDs plus the original
- User can immediately begin labeling each segment
Appendices
FAQ
Q: What happened to the original downtime after splitting? A: The original downtime is replaced by the new split downtimes. The original ID is included in the Quick Filter results for reference.
Q: Can I split a downtime that has already been labeled? A: Yes, but you will need to re-label each of the new downtime segments after splitting.
Q: Why can't I add more than 4 splits? A: The system supports a maximum of 4 splits per operation, resulting in 5 total downtimes. If you need more segments, you can split one of the resulting downtimes again.
