Summary: This document specifies what ASM software versions you must check to verify your ASM implementation is ready to submit data into ArchFX Cloud to be displayed in the Global KPIs Solution.
Overview of ASM software versions
There are two version numbers to be aware of:
- ASM OIB Version: This is currently a number between 4.0 and 6.1. The ASM OIB version is the same for an entire OIB installation. This is typically the same for an entire factory, although there are some factories that have 2-3 separate OIB installations.
- Station Software Version: This runs on an individual ASM Machine. This is different from and unrelated to the OIB version; they have no dependency on each other at all. Each ASM machine in the factory will have a Station Software Version, and it can be different for every machine (even machines in the same line).
Station software version numbers for ASM are 3-digit numbers between 400 and 799. The hundreds place is the software generation number. There is 4xx, 5xx, 6xx, and the present generation 7xx. The generation of software is determined by the machine model. A very old machine will always be on 4xx software and can never upgrade to 5xx, 6xx or 7xx. A new machine currently on 707 could upgrade to 712; it's just a matter of the factory performing that upgrade.
How ASM versions affect what data is populated into ArchFX Cloud
- The OIB version controls whether a factory populates a given table in our data lake at all. There are many different tables in the data lake that all come from the same ASM machines.
- The Station software version (and sometimes the OIB version as well) controls whether certain columns in a given table are filled out.
Supported ASM OIB Versions
ASM OIB 5.3 is the first version that ArchFX Cloud supports. This is the lowest OIB version number that provides the "heartbeat table" necessary for ArchFX Cloud to detect software changes on machines, line reconfigurations, and machines that move between lines.
ASM OIB 5.5 is recommended because it provides the station availability event data table that contains machine stops (which are called assists). OIB versions prior to 5.5 can't support the ArchFX Machine Errors Report or reports that rely on E10 machine state tracking.
Supported Station Software Versions
Arch recommends that customers run a recent version of the 7xx station software as some of the earliest 7xx station software will not send machine stops even if they are connected to an OIB 5.5 server or later and therefore wil not show up on a Machine Error Report.
