SMT equipment vendors use the terms "board" and "panel" in different ways, which can cause confusion.
In Arch product user interfaces:
- "board" means a single electronic circuit board that will ultimately be used within some product
- "panel" means a set of electronic circuit boards that are passing through the SMT line at the same time as a group
Here is a comparison of the terms some SMT equipment vendors use for what Arch calls a "board" and "panel."
Because ASM and Keysight (for example) use the terms with opposite meanings, there's no way to pick a single naming convention that is consistent with all vendors.
